SHG School Project
The SHG’s efforts to increase community awareness about local heritage extends to the Springhill Junior Senior High School.
Under the supervision of teaching staff, students are invited to submit entries each Fall on a heritage topic of interest to them. The SHG membership chooses their favourites of the entries and awards prizes accordingly.
Luke Jackson’s entry, “Springhill History and How It Changed” was tied for first place in our 2011 competition. Luke’s project is a collection of contemporary and historic photos of Springhill and area, accompanied by famed Irish singer / songwriter Luke Kelly’s “Springhill Mining Disaster”.
